Garage Door Repair: Hinge Maintenance

Problem Areas
Fortunately, problems with garage door hinges are relatively easy to identify and remedy. Snapped or broken hinges should simply be replaced immediately.
Because garage doors are exposed to the elements and their daily use involves moving up and down, the bolts holding the hinge on the door tend to loosen over time.
Hinge Maintenance

Keep Spiders Out With Garage Maintenance

Cold weather is rough on everyone, and that includes spiders. Once cooler temps hit, everyone's favorite eight-legged creatures start looking for a warm space to call home.
If you're not comfortable with your garage being that space, it's time to pay attention to your garage door, specifically the base of your garage door. It's common for leaves, cobwebs, and debris to accumulate around the base of the door, tripping the safety eyes, and preventing the door from closing.
Maintenance to prevent this is relatively simple. Using a broom, sweep away any fallen foliage. Then, gently run the bristles of the broom around the edge of the door and across the sight line of the safety eyes.
Here's P ...

Navigating The Insurance Process With...

There are two basic truths Perfect Home Restoration wants you to know about storm damage and the insurance industry.
First, storm damage is most likely covered under your homeowner’s insurance policy. That means you’ve already paid for the repairs to your roof and siding, you just need to ask them to pay up.
Second, not all reputable roofers specialize in insurance work, and not all roofers that specialize in insurance work are reputable. The term “storm chaser” is applied as a pejorative to roofers that chase severe weather events across a region with little to no concern for quality of work or customer service. They roll into town to take advantage of distressed h ...

Natural hardwood flooring offers a classic look and feel, but it might not be right for every home. Wood, even when it's sealed and protected, is still a porous, organic, material that's going to be vulnerable to dings, dents, scratches, and moisture. That means households with children, pets, and a lot of foot traffic probably aren't a good fit for natural hardwood floors. But they are for enhanced vinyl.
Vinyl flooring has come a long way in 20 years. Gone are the thin, one-piece vinyl sheets of "flooring" that look and feel cheap. Vinyl flooring can now mimic the appearance of natural wood and stone without sacrificing durability. The enhanced vinyl flooring at Guhde Flooring America is ...

Press a button and the garage door opens or closes. When that doesn’t happen, it can cause a lot of frustration.
Odds are the problem can be resolved with a simple adjustment—and the best news is you can probably handle it yourself in seconds. Before you reach for the phone for a service call, try the following four tips.

Check the transmitters, both the wall and the remote units. If the wall control button light is flashing, it is in vacation/lock mode. See the manual to turn off the vacation/lock mode.
For the remote transmitter, does the indicator light glow when the button is pressed? If not, replace the batte ...
